Dojo & Shop News
November 30, 2017

Dear students and their families.

We would like to take this opportunity to share some very sad but also very exciting news regarding our main Preston Dojo.

Unfortunately, our team were recently informed that the owners of the building now have plans to redevelop the Watery Lane site and that our tenancy would be coming to an end. Planning Applications have been submitted to demolish the building to make way for a Porche Dealership. This was a huge shock to us after spending so much money over the summer, to try and make the dojo more presentable for all of you and to weatherproof it, ready for winter. We were under the Impression there were no plans to redevelop in the near future.

However, as they say, every cloud has a silver lining. Once we learned of the owners plans, we have been tirelessly trying to secure a new venue for all of our students.

We are pleased to announce that from Monday 30th October 2017 our new full-time home will be at the Sports Centre based in Preston‘s College.

Working in Partnership with Preston’s College, there are many great benefits that come with this move.

  • Heating, air-conditioning & a comfortable sprung floor in the new Martial Arts Studio.
  • Ample car parking spaces for lessons and gradings.
  • Subsidised gym memberships at the college for Parents. (Details to follow).
  • Free Wi-Fi.
  • On-site refectory, which opens till 7:30pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Easy access to the sports hall for gradings and seminars.
  • Centralised location in Preston.

As well as all of the great benefits to our new home, there are a few minor issues we need to draw your attention to. The new studio isn’t quite as big as our current site, so unfortunately, parents who would like to watch the classes must be kept to an absolute minimum for health and safety reasons. Parents are invited to use the refectory (drinks are available) whilst sessions are on during weekdays or leave their children in our care. Saturday classes are amongst our busiest with well over 100 students attending throughout the day, so again, minimal seating will be available forparents and unfortunately the refectory will be closed. However, there is a Booths nearby & Asda is just a five minute drive away. (We are continuing negotiations with the college regarding the refectory being opened on a Saturday and will keep you updated!!)

Nippon UK is in its 25th year of providing exceptional Martial Arts tuition to thousands of families across the North West and we have never been busier! We look forward to you all coming with us on this journey and would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continuing support. We are very excited about the future and what it may bring!
